He won't be the 'real' president until January. George W. is still our president. Obama is our President-elect. That may be why. I don't know what Remembrance Day is, though.
Remembrance day is when we remember all the soldiers who died in world war I and wear poppies. It's actually supposed to be the 11th because that's the day world war I ended but we usually celebrate on the nearest Sunday.
My Dad didn't die in the war but he did fight at Dunkirk and out in the desert. I think of how brave he was.
The most moving thing for me today was seeing such "young " war widows who've lost their loved ones in Afghanistan and Iraq. It's such a sorrow that these wars are having such "young fatalities" my prayers go out to them and their loved ones. The same as they do for all the troops that are fighting.
I know what you mean. It's always so sad when you see articles in the paper about a young family losing the father. I remember reading one where the soldier's youngest child had been two weeks old!
Sorry brandy.I din't think of that.I'm not good at politics etc.
Rememberance Day(Sunday) is always held on the 11th of November in the UK.Everyone or most people in the UK wear a red poppy in rememberance and honour of the troops in all wars that have lost their lives fighting for their coutries.
It's a very emotional service held at white chapel in London. With the same service carried out in individual countries, Usually at exactly 11 am one minutes silence is obseved to remember loved ones who lost their lives or those still at war and fighting for their countries today. It's so sad! I hope you understand a bit more now although I'm not good at explaining things.Every year that I remember there is always representatives from each country and each armed force come to pay tribute by laying a wreath of red poppies.
If anything screams "ANTI WAR" it's Rememberance Sunday!! hugs!
