Also, am greatly disturbed by your suggestion that Lear sexually assaulted his elder daughters. Surely it would have been his favourite daughter that was in danger, if we were to accept such a thing of the character?

Nope, see the reason that Cordelia loves her father is because he DIDN'T sexually assault her: Goneril and Regan protected her from him, apparently.
It's a rather pedantic and, in fact, slightly psychotic feminist reading of the text.
