a city full of treats

My explorations of San Jose begin anew...

I tried the manju shop in San Jose's Japantown. It was a friendly place, and the gathered manju looked like little doughy jewels in the pink box they used. Alas that I found the taste of them to be not palatable.

New taste experiences seem to keep daunting me. From the persimmon I didn't let ripen enough (ahhh! astringent!) to the "odd coconut and... yellow confetti like substance I can not identify" pastry this morning from the Vietnamese bakery. On a side note, the Viet coffee there was quite tasty... perhaps something to drink on a cool morning walk down fourth street and past the odd steeple of the Der Wienerschnitzel.

The treats are visually quite pleasing. Some of them I think I will continue to look at from afar. My wanderings will continue...
