Creating and bjd

I've been a busy girl. Sewing up some new purses and made a lovely faux fur cape. I found the faux fur in the remnant box at the craft store for about $7.50 and I used a piece of grey rayon with a silky fabric as lining that I got for free from a friend. The cape was difficult to sew cause I've never done anything like that. The bottom came out a little crooked but not noticeably. Another purse I made was this painted purse. I hand painted the flowers and stripes and added the lace. Mom snapped it up as her belated Christmas present.

I've been thinking for a while that I wanted to get a ball jointed doll. One of those ridiculously expensive asian sculpted one. They do look beautiful and I can sew my own fashion ideas together in miniature. Of course I most likely will not stop at one doll because it also gives me a way to create characters as well. I've been investigating different dolls and decided to take the plunge. There were two specific routes I was debating on taking. One was buy a new doll from the many manufacturers. I found a design I absolutely love. Most of the dolls are sold naked with no face painting for a basic doll but of course a found this cute one named miss kitty.

Of course to get what's imaged here's about $400 give or take but I can get the basic body for about half. Though If I order and pay for the doll now I won't get it till April because they make the dolls after your order it and then it's a slow boat from china to get here.

The other route was to buy a used doll from eBay. I found a doll sculpt that was in list of candidates in the pre-order category that is only a year old with the face up already on it. For little more a naked blank faced doll that I get in April, or I can buy the used one with a face and get it now. Actually it came out to be less considering shipping and other things. So I went with this option. I still want the miss kitty doll and will probably get her when I get my tax return but I can afford the ebay doll now.

This is my brand new Doll Family 1/4 Zhaoyu. He's about 44.8cm tall. The only thing I got in the picture besides him is the wig so that will be his hair. I'm going to think of a name for him.

This is going to be an expensive hobby. I've been warned before.
