I just wrote this as a reply to someone's comment and figured I may as well post it to briefly explain what's going on.
My car was stolen. I had to pay $304 cash to get it out of impound where it was stored for 7 days for processing once it was recovered.
There was no processing. When I got the car back there was weed and crack cocaine in it. Not to mention other evidence (two cell phones, a case of CDs, a CD in my player, pieces of paper with phone numbers on it, etc etc etc).
I've yet to get a call back from a detective/investigator in the three weeks since my house was broken into and my car was stolen.
I had to get my chief deputy and major of operations involved where I work (Sheriff's office in county north of where I live) just to get the weed and crack taken out of my car.
This entire thing has been a clusterfuck.
I was driving a rental for the 10 days after I returned from Maryland until my car was released to me. I had my car back for 4 days and I just dropped it off at the body shop this morning where I had to get another rental. I imagine I'll have this one for at least 3-5 days because there's a lot of painting that has to be done to repair all of the scratches and dents on my car.
