If in Breaking Dawn before the battle they needed more fighters would Jasper call on Maria for help? If he did this is how it would play out. Jasper's POV.
"No."I simply replied.
"Jasper," Carlisle said, " We need more. Yes, we have the Romanians, the Amazons, the Irish and a few Nomads but is just not enough. We need to involve the Southerners."
"Maria will never help me, when I left she got mad. Her emotions weren't under my control any more and she flipped out. I left and she lost Monterray. She was mad and she still is." I explained. Alice hovered at my side uncomfortable.
"Jaz, Trust me, I'm the last to want to involve her, but it seems that we have no choice." Alice said. I turned toward her but refrained from looking into her eyes.
"Fine, but this won't be easy." I said stubbornly.
"Thank you, Jasper." Bella said abbruptly, "You know this means alot to me."
--------
Alice had never met Maria and before now had never planned to. Now she was on-edge. I hated seeing her unhappy and nervous like this when it was all my falt. Alice glided down the stairs and perched lightly on the arm of my chair. I looked up into her eyes and formed a little smile on my face. She matched the expression and sighed. I wrapped my hand around her tiny waist and pulled her off the arm rest. She landed on my lap and giggled while wrapping her arms around my neck and leaned into my chest. She rested there for a long time as I patiently waited for her to speak.
"Do you actually think she'll stay and help?" Alice asked quietly.
"No. She's sly enough to fight in the south ignoring the Voltri's laws but she will never face the Voltri head on, she has too much self-preservation." I replyed back quickly.
"Jaz, how do you know that?" Alice questioned.
"She told me."
"Oh, But you haven't seen her in a really long time, what is she's changed?" Alice said hopefully.
"I don't think so."
--------
I was slumped unhappily into one of the large arm chairs in the living room. I had no doubt in my mind that Maria was going to be rude and dificult. Peter had gratiously gone and fetched her from Mexico while I stayed here sulking. I didn't want to see her. Emmet sudenly fell noisily into the chair opposite of me, to my dismay.
"What!?" I snapped, very annoyed.
"Why don't you want to see Maria? She obviously means something to you." Emmet asked loudly.
"Meant." I corrected impatiently.
"You still haven't answered my question." He said.
"And I don't intend to either." I snapped back.
"Come on, bro, I wanna know." he wined pathetlicly. Why did Emmet always insist on prying?
"Stop wining you dumbass or I'll break all the mirrors in the house and Rose will be so upset she won't have sex with you for weeks." I threatened.
"Wow, I heard that, Jasper." Rosalie yelled from upstairs. Emmet and I both grinned momentarily before we both remembered that we were mad at each other.
"Fine, don't tell me why, Jasper, its obviously something personal." Emment taunted me enphasizing the personal.
"You wanna know why I don't want to see her? One, she'll treat Alice like shit, Two, its pointless she will NEVER help us, Three, she's a stupid cunt, And I really just don't want to see her again! I don't like my past and she IS my past!" I yelled.
"Oh touchy," Emmet said obnoxiously, "Cunt you say? In what way?"
"Ahh!" I groaned, "Why do you NEED to know? Why do you NEED to make this harder than it already is?!?" I yelled. Emmet remained silent waiting foor me to give in.
"Maria was unstable, Nettie and Lucy too, but Maria was really messed up. She couldn't control her emotions before she changed me. Afterward she never left my side, she was addicted to my control, it turned her on. She inconsistent and incapable but then with me she made an army. The best. She needed my control even when I made her mad, even when I hurt her." I paused for a moment. Emmet was shocked, he'd heard the whole story, but not like this. "I broke her down inside, she had cracked along time before and when I stopped controling her she was deranged and more blood thirsty than any new-born. She took her anger out on me but I didn't mind, she was useful in a fight."
"The scars..." Emmet started but I answer before he finished.
"Yeah, most of then are from her. She formed crazy but intelligent coherent thoughts. We used them to form plan against our enimies and our army thrived and we never lost but I was wary of taking new territory, one day she was going to shatter. Peter was the only one who saw how I was breaking her and he knew that she would not make it when I left but he told me about Charlotte and his new way of life anyways because he was my friend and knew I was getting...worse and that I needed something different, that her emotions were creeping into mine when I was with her. When I got out I was better, she was worse. Way worse. She lost everything until she regained part of her old self back. It must have taken a long time and alot of help."
"Now I see why she wouldn't want to help you." Emmet said.
"Yes but she's still uncontroled and she wants me back." I said.
"But Jasper, we really need more help, please try, for Nessie's sake." Emmet said.
"Fine."
-----
Peter phoned earlier and gave me the warning that they were arriving soon. Bella and Edward were optimistic despite my glommy mood. Alice was just annoyed, she wasn't looking forward to meeting my ex and surprisingly she couldn't get a grip on the future, just a few dim flickers. I calmed her slowly and massaged her neck gently trying to get her to losen.
"Jasper, I know this will be hard and I am happy you chose to give this a chance." Carlisle said for about the five-hundreth time. His little speaches just annoyed me, why should he thank me? Edward should be the one thanking me, he was the only one who knew how adverse the idea of seeing Maria was to me, and it was his daughter I was doing this to help. Edward shifted awkwardly and I knew he had 'heard' my rant.
"Sorry Edward," I said. "I care...too, its just.....just..." Everyone besides Edward and I were confused. I'd filled in the sentence in my head; "I care about Nessie too, it's just I don't want Maria to hurt Alice, I really care, just not as much..."
"Umm, anyone care to fill us in?" Emmet asked.
"No." I said.
"Nope." Edward said after Emmet turned to him.
"Fine," Emmet mumbled annoyed.
----some time later-----
I stood slumped against the back wall the furthest awsy from the door. Em and Rose pertended to be interested in the TV but were probably fantasizing about what they might be doing if we all weren't here. The Amazons were in the dinning room talking swiftly in a strange tribal dialeck so I just tried to ignore them. Charlotte sat quietly in a large armchair that was big enough for three of her. The rest of the 'help' and Carlisle were hunting along with Edward, Bella, and Nessie. They didn't want to introduce Nessie to Maria straight away, they wanted her to regain some trust with me first, even though I sincerly doubted that she would ever help. Alice sat perfectly still, now even more anxious, against the wall I was on but just slightly farther down. Her chin rested lightly on her knees but her legs were tightly bunched up against her chest. Occasionally her eyes wandered up, catching mine, and we smiled lightly. I tried to comfort her and tare her glommy emotions away and replace them but she fought against me stubbornly.
A while later we heard them aproach and we all lifted our heads. I lifted myself of the wall aand walked to the center of the room as Alice followed behind me. Emmet stode toward me as the Amazons walked quietly and slowly across the room to stand behind us. Peter opened the door casualy and nodded his head in greeting. I braced myself for the woman and her emotions entering the room and pushed Alice from my side, behind me. She slid past the door cooly. She remained more colected than I expected. Her deep red eyes scaned the room slowly, her long dark hair flowing behind her. Her eyes locked on mine.
"Hello, Jasper." she spoke slowly calculating our numbers from the different smells criss crossing the room. She took just a step closer as I spoke.
"Maria." I said as I dipped my head in greeting, again. She peered behind me then chuckled lightly.
"Aw, how cute," Maria began as Alice stepped out from behind me brushing away my hand beckoning her backwards.
"Jasper, she's not going to try to hurt me and even if she changes her mind, she won't be the one getting hurt." Alice said as she looked into my eyes with a strange quirky smile across her face. Alice flounced closer to Maria boldly. Maria seemed taller than Alice but then again she was high stilettos. Maria smirked glancing as Alice breifly.
"Oh, Jazspy, you didn't get much out of the de-" Maria said almost apologetically but Alice interupted finnishing her sentence, confusing her.
"al, abstinence from blood and a short little pixie chick." Alice finished. Maria cocked her head but caried on not relizing Alice's power.
"Oh and she's obnoxious an-" Maria started to say again.
"d finnishes your sentences." Alice said immitating Maria's annoyed tone. I stifled a laugh but kept it in not wanting to miss a moment of their face-off. Emmet was already silently laughing behind me. Maria stode there looking almost stupid for a moment before relizing what Alice could do.
"Oh." Maria drowned finaly relizing. I stepped forward and pulled Alice back to me. She was the cutest smirk on her face. She wraped her small arm around my waist and just stode smiling. Maria glared at her for a moment before looking back to me.
"Well, it seems I was mistaken but I doubt she can fight as well as me." Maria said. The scars layering her misty skin would have been proof enough for anyone but I was sceptical, Alice's fighting tequniques were something Marai had never faced.
"Anyways, Jasper, why have you had Peter drag me all the way here?" Maria asked. She now payed more attention to the others behind me. She eyed the Amazons suspiciously knowing that this wasn't there natural habitat.
"We'll introduce ourselves first and then we'll answer some questions later." Emmet said walking out next to me. Maria looked over Emmet aprovinglly but a little too thoroughly. Rosalie growled softly and Maria laughed softly walking forward toward Emmet.
"Hello, and you are?" She said smoothly looking up at Emmet threw her long dark lashes.
"I'm Emmet and I'm taken." Emmet said enthusiastically as Rosalie came to his side. Maria humpfed and walked on toward the Amazons. The Senna, Kachiri, and Zafrina introduced themselves and Maria blandly greeted them and them walked back toward us. She pasted us and plopped down on the nearest chair. "Now, please will some tell me why i'm here?" Maria sighed. Alice and I sat down across from her on the couch while evreyone remained standing.
"Well, we have a problem," I begun.
"And it's not mine so I still don't see why I'm here." Maria interupted me.
"Well, if you will stop interupting me I'll tell you." I shot back irritated.
"Fine." She said.
"Don't even ask what we are protecting bacuse I am not going to tell you yet," I continued, "The more important thing is that we have angered the Voltri, and we are NOT giving in." Maria sat wide-eyed then jumped up and bounded up infront of me.
"You imbecile! Your going to DIE! You are ALL going to die!" she shouted and turned and headed for the door. I raced after her and Alice followed me swiftly. I grabbed her hand and twisted her around pulling her up to me.
"Let go of me!" she said as she struggled hopelessly.
"You are not going anywere!" I said harshly. I turned and twisted her hand into a awkward position paralizing her near me. I looked right into Maria's terrified eyes and pulled all her fear out of her, tripled it and shoved it back down her scarred throat.
"Jasper!" Alice said from behind me as Maria bucked and fell limp in my hands. Her pained eyes remained locked on mine.
"Jasper! Stop it." Alice screamed. She had never seen my use my power to hurt someone. Emmet came up behind me cautiously. I dropped her and she fell into a heap on the floor her eyes still staring up at me. She wimpered and slunk slowly away into the corner.
"Jasper, what did you do to her?" Alice demanded grabing my shoulder forcing me to turn toward her.
"Sorry." I whispered softly as I gazed into her eyes. Her frantic eyes forced me to focus on her.
"Jasper, she won't help us if you keep hurting her like this," she said rationaly, "let it up, okay!" I looked away from her and put my hand out toward Maria. She stared up breathing heavily.
"I'll make it go away." I said. She reached slowly and when her finger tip touched mine I covered her in a thick calming blanket. Her breathing stopped and her face got more collected but she remained on the floor. Alice stepped toward her and held out a hand to help her up. She took it without looking into her eyes and then straightened herself against a chair. Maria showed no gratitude toward Alice and tried to ignore her. She turned to me and started up the converstion were it left off.
"Why? Jasper, you'll never win." Maria stated it like it was a unchangeble fact.
"We have more," I said, "Edward, he is a mind reader, we have the Romanians, a few of Carlisle's Irish and Egyptian friends, our friends from Denali, and a bunch of nomads. We've gathered an assortment of vampires with helpful powers." Maria listened intently now interested. The idea of so many powerful well trained vampires together against the Voulti actually pleased her.
"Really? Interesting..." she said, "So why would you need me? You seem well enough equiped."
"Well, Carlisle, along with Edward and Bella think we need help from more...experienced fighters. What we are protecting is special, we all care about her."
"Oh, 'her'. So its a she? Um, now who could it be? And why is she so special?" Maria said thinking allowed. I immediatly regretted letting that slip.
"No, Maria, it's not me. Although the Volturri would enjoy having me a their side, this girl is not mearly a vampire with a useful power." Alice said in response to what Maria was going to say. Maria thought for a second.
"Oh, I guess I'll have to stay, now I'm dying to know whats more special than you." Maria said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
