Weekend
Well Friday night was pubs and then FMR. As always it was nice to meet up with tinker_goth, straythoughts, snootylj and dr_whitelabcoat. After a few drinks in the Sal and the Pit we headed up to the Angel to find an FMR that was far busier then I have ever seen it. It looked to me like shallowthing was doing a good job of running the night, with assistance from jonthebloody on the door.
Saturday was of course my birthday. I had a relatively quiet day, went into Notts to buy some books but mostly I spent the day reading or gaming. Saturday night however was a "bit" more exciting :). We started off at Chai Yo with a Thai meal. Those who were able to turn up were tinker_goth, straythoughts, rlucas666, Pete, Mandy, Mike, Tara, Steve, Katie, voodooangel, jellybearwhore and distorted_rage. Quite a cross section of people I know just there. There were strawberry sherbet sweets courtesy of jellybearwhore, much delicious Thai Food, lots of conversation, pressies (a very nice looking book and a sonic screwdriver :)) and cool cards, and at the end a surprise ice cream desert which I think everyone had fun tucking into. It's been a long time since I got to blow out candles on my birthday :).
Amazingly we didn't overrun on the meal to badly and made it to the Tap just before nine. Where another horde of people were waiting. Alas I can't name them all, but a few of the mentionables included dr_whitelabcoat, snootylj, doctor_tron, chocolateandsex, zethliss, edenapocalypse (who was working that night and thus couldn't avoid it :)), Del, Em and Suey. I suspect there were more folks there then years in my age, which isn't a bad turnout at all :). There were more cards and books which was very nice and of course a fair amount of beer. I even managed to get round to have a word with most folks before it was time to head to the Wake.
Once we got to the Wake the drinking continued (of course :)) and it was nice to see that there were a lot of people there for the first Wake at the new venue. More conversation, little of it serious followed. There was also a fellwolf in attendance and her and jellybearwhore decided to play both "leap goth" and "goth tag" later on. The first was amusing to watch, the second I ended up getting tagged so had to tag them back. Anyway a great night continued and I even made it to the end of the night. A taxi home with other besstonites and that was my birthday over. I have to say I had a great time and thanks to those who were able to make it, or sent me messages on the day :).
