My aunt Margaret's funeral went well. I have not seen my relatives on her side of the family since I was a kid. It was nice seeing them again and talking about the old days.
Steph and I took hwy 395 home. On Friday night we stopped at Fossil Falls to go rock climbing. The rock climbing looked a little hard to me, so we just walked around and skipped the climbing part. But, we got to see some models there doing a photo shot. And it was nice sleeping in the desert.
We got up the next day and headed out for cross country skiing, after stopping at Eric Schat's Bakery in Bishop for some of there famous sheepherders bread and donuts (MMMMM... donuts). We ended up skiing just South of Mamoth at the Rocky Canyon Snow Park. It was a really nice day and the trail was well groomed. I also meet a troop of boy scouts building snow caves. They were near a group of about 30 cabins that can only be reached by snow shoeing or cross country skiing. I would love to go back and stay in one of the cabins some day.
We then drove to a casino in Carson and slept in their parking lot. On Sunday we drove home. Well, we had to stop in South Lake Tahoe and lose $50 bucks playing craps.
Well not bad for a spur of the moment vacation.
