Party, Car work and old friends

Well Steph and I went to a fun party on Friday night. I felt a little shy and did not talk very much with people but I still had a fun time. It is funny to think of myself being shy when we stuffed 10 naked people in a spa made for 4. We slept over in our RV and went on a nice hike with B. and J. in the morning.

Outside of the San Diego Zoo I have never seen so many butterflies. I highly recommend the cedar falls hike to anyone that likes butterflies. It was a short 2.8 mile hike, in Auburn and was well worth the drive. It also has an interpretative brochure for your reading pleasure as you hike.

Of course I had more car trouble. After we dropped off J and B we got a flat tire on our RV. We drove to the local Les Schwab tire center and replaced 6 tires. Well, I better keep working lots of OT. It cost us about $500 for the tires. Not bad considering they came with a lifetime warranty.

Then comes the good news. Max an old friend of mine (our parents knew each other before we were born) is coming up to watch the Hangtown MX race in my park. It will be great to see him again. It has been a long time. He might crash at our place or head up to Truckee and stay with Josh (another old friend but not as close).

Well, I’m as ready as I’m going to get for the big Hangtown MX race. At least there will be a supervisor on duty. Though I’m sure as the senior park ranger at the park there will be many things that I will be responsible for. I like it when it is busy but I’m always afraid that the shit will hit the fan and I will not know what to do. So, far I have always made the right decision. I have heard stories of rangers that when the time came for them to act they did nothing. I have never been that Ranger and hope I will never be that Ranger. I still have a fear that I might be. So, far I have always been able to talk people out of fighting with me. I know that I will not always be able to calm people down. Especially when I may have to work with more hot headed rangers. Well I will do what is needed and trust my training to see me through. GET DOWN STOP RESISTING!!!! (Just something they train us to yell so that bystanders will hear). Well time to pay my bills.
