Yesterday while driving in to work, we saw a fox running off into a field of beans. I don't think I'd ever seen a fox out running around before....It was kinda cool.

I don't want to go into a whole, boring "I hate my fucking job" tirade, but a few points:

1. I hate working for somewhere that feels it necessary to know where I am at every second. Literally. My sup chastised me the other day for consistently being 30 seconds to a minute over on breaks and lunch. The general level of surveillance is just insane--they want to know where I am, what doors I go through, how long I'm on the phone, how long I'm not on the phone. I've had enough jobs where I'm just expected to get my work done and damn the details that this stuff is just chafing my buttocks on a regular basis.

2. I hate working for a company that makes it clear in umpteen implicit ways that the old people we talk to every day as part of our job are, at best, a very low second on the priority scale. Serving the old people in an efficient and effective manner isn't nearly as important as meeting the guidelines of our bosses' bosses (lest our bosses lose this lucrative contract). How do we do that? Not by helping old people, but by reading vague and poorly-worded scripts at them that, at best, only obliquely answer their questions.

3. I'm tired of being shafted as a temp. Rod's leg drama points out just how vulnerable we are without any insurance. Couple that with the insecurity of knowing that they could, at any time and with no real warning, fire our asses, and it makes planning for the future a bitch. Plus, it just makes me all the more contemptuous of capitalism's utter reliance on an exploited (and continually exploitable) working class.

I was gonna write more, but I'm bored now. Maybe I'll try again in another couple months.....=]
