Back from the bbq...
Good turnout today, including several relatives that usually don't show up for the cookout. My aunt brought her new man, who passed with flying colors; my cousin-in-law dislocated his thumb playing softball; the baby is now walking and walking pretty well, and I lost 3 games of cornhole (the most unfortunately named game EVER) and 2 games of cards. This apparently makes up for last year's bbq, where I was unstoppable at both.
We didn't set off any fireworks, since it had been dry and my cousins didn't want to risk it, but several neighbors did. It turns out that it rained off and on (mostly off), and as everyone was launching their fireworks, nature put on its own show with lots of cloud-to-cloud and heat lightning. It's raining pretty steadily now as I type this, and we're still getting lots of thunder. Pretty harmless, at least. It made for quite a show.
