Happy birthday to me! Not that I don't always have good ones, but this one was very nice, even though tomorrow (ok, it's past midnight, so today) is actually my birthday. First of all, Nancy and I have our first visitor to our place in NYC, my Mom came up earlier this (sunday) morning. It's great to see her of course, and its also great to be able to show her what life up here is like. Yeah, we were in Jersey before, but that was so much like Virginia. I know the locals aren't thrilled, but it's exciting to live in this kind of environment after I lived for so long in the country and in a smaller city.
As far as gifts, Nancy gave me a great new camera! My mom and sister gave me related gifts, a bag, big memory card, and a tripod. My brother gave me what I asked for, new carseat covers, and picked out a texas holdem design because I'm a poker nut. If you've seen some other posts or if you've gotten any emails with photos (the only email I'll send to multiple people, I promise), maybe you realize that I enjoy taking pictures. I've expressed a little frustration since moving here, though, at not being able to get REALLY good pictures, because there are so, so many great opportunities. Nancy picked out a digital camera that has loads of options, more than enough to get me knee deep into the photography hobby for real. Just today we took some very nice photos around the city while taking Mom out. Check them out here!

Ahh...a camera with great museum pictures
The grand finale...Nancy took this perfect photo of lower Manhattan! This isn't from the internet!
I hope you enjoyed your first taste...there will be many, many more pictures in the very near future! Hell, soon I'm going to have to charge a subscription fee :) just kidding!
