Im going to go by example from reading Matt Hardy's latest commentary and offer some "Constructive Criticism" on the WWE and a little on TNA.
The WWE
From my POINT OF VIEW, the following could make RAW more enjoyable to me as a viewer:
1. Make Randy Orton a real legend killer. He should have held that title longer than Honky Tonk Man. And what a better way to cement himself as a 'legend killer' than to face Honky Tonk Man just before the record timeline approaches. Randy Orton goes over HTM and becomes the NEW longest reigning I.C champ of all time, break a record and mark another notch off in "Legends Killed". Yes, most of todays fans have no clue who H.T.M is, so thats why you run promos on the guy, let him make a few appearances, basically re-introduce him to the audience.
2. The only possible way that the whole Lita/Kane/Matt pregnancy angle is gonna work is if Lita is actually pregnant. I have concluded that this storyline is in effect for Lita as she appears to have nothing left to do wrestling-wise for WWE till at least WrestleMania 21. Lita CAN wrestle, but look at the environment she came back to, everything was different, the fans wanted een more and expected more, she wasn't able to deliver on her return quite honestly. Currently, the best thing she can do now is pull a big swerve and say that Kane is the real dad and she still despises Matt for humiliating her on RAW. Makes sense. Evil Lita is a good Lita....remember her alliance with Essa Rios when she first debuted in WWF? Yea.
3. Eugene. This guy can WRESTLE, and made what was originally thought to be one flop of an idea, work. But a good thing can only last so long. Here is an idea that could/could not go over well, so its good to experiment: Have him get BLASTED with a chair or something involving the head. The following week he would be "normal". He wouldn't act so "special". He wouldn't even know he was mentally handicapped! OR.....one day just have him pull a huge heel turn on, lets say, Benoit by saying he never was mentally handicapped and it was all one big ruse to get the attention he desired. Makes sense.
4. Ric Flair + Mick Foley = Money. They dislike/hate eachother, I really don't honestly know the full story between the two, but whatever it is, one is obviously mad at the other and what mare than to let it spill onto live TV and have a legitimate feud between the two leading up to an eventual match. When word leaks out that two people really do hate eachother, most fans drool over the day the two meet face to face. Ric Flairs old school tactics versus Mick Foleys reckless abandon for brawling. And if Bret was in 100% physical condition, I'd now LOVE to see a Bret Hart vs Ric Flair match..again, especially under the new circumstances.
5. Edge Army. You promote it on his t-shirts and merchandise, so why not make it an actual reality? Edge has stated that he will take down Evolution one by one. He began with Orton, and most recently Batista. This is all gonna lead up to an eventual stable feud, but who should Edge create a team with? Heres an idea: Edge, Benoit, Jericho and Christian. Hey, E & C reunite! Why not? Christian could use one last ride in the tag division as one of the most entertaining tag teams again. Basically, it would be Team Canada versus Evolution, but think about it......and Edge vs Triple H has been rumored ever since his return, so why not build up for it now? Its common sense people!!!
NWA-TNA
The NWA-TNA, or as they'd like to be called now: TNA Wrestling. Although the only stuff I've ever seen of TNA is from the Impact shows on FSN, I've still got some ideas.
1. Raven as the TNA Champion. This guy has champion written all over him. His fan base is phenominal. He puts asses in seats. And yet it appears TNA does not give him the time of day, in my opinion. Raven can be THE champion to carry TNA, not Jeff Jarrett. The key to good business is to send the fans home HAPPY, not pissed off or insulted. Raven getting screwed out of the TNA title to have Jarrett win it was a HUGE letdown to everyone. Give Raven a chance, thats all, and watch your ratings and your buyrate go up.
2. Retire Jeff Jarrett. Double J needs to take up an office job for TNA and stay there. You know something isn't right when the son is the champion of his daddys promotion. Its called favortism and that brings morale down and turns fans away. Fans dont have to be 'Net fans to find out that Jerry Jarrett owns the company. Why do you think Shane McMahon was never WWE Champion? Because his father was smart. Vince knew that it would cause problems, so therefore he let his son have the lesser of the titles, that being the European title, just so it could be retired...temporarily. Mr. Jarrett could learn from such things. If Jerry Jarrett takes up the offer to move to a monday night timeslot, he will get eaten alive by the WWE. He needs to make a few adjustments to his company before making such a grand move.
3. WCW is DEAD. ECW is DEAD, get over it. As I watch TNA, I feel like Im watching either WCW or ECW. The only 'alternative' to TNA as a whole is the X-Division, which is the WCW cruiserweight division on crack. Yea, you have your own original talent that was in neither WCW or ECW, but it still appears the same. The ring is a nice touch, but it doesn't hide the similarities of 2 dead companies.
4. Do not use NASCAR commentators for commentary. As I previously posted, when I heard Jeff Hammonds talk, I felt myself getting dumber. If they know what wrestling is and how to call a match, then by all means let them step up. If they don't know a wristlock from a monkeywrench, send them back. Its embarassing!
5. Dusty Rhodes and Larry Zybysko have got to go. Yes, I respect them as recognized legends, and they are great ones in their own right, but this is 2004, not 1982. Look at your crowd when either one is out there, they are BORED OFF THEIR MINDS! Duh-sty does just fine with his promotion in Florida, so I really don't think him being let go by TNA is going to hurt him much. Zybysko is a great guy I would imagine, but like I stated earlier, its 2004. Tradition has changed and like it or not, ya gotta deal with it. Fans want to see fresh, new faces entertaining them, not some guys from their parents hey-day flapping their gums!
Ok, so I may have went off a little too much, probably as if I knew what I was talking about, as if I were right...well, it all depends on your own opinion. Don't let me or anyone else make the decisions for you, you make your own(A little Matt Fact* there).
And I know I might get talked to about this last one from my "boss" but I have to get it outta my system:
NWA-Missouri
You decide not to do any shows until October because your 'top guy' cant wrestle on the shows due to an injury? The claim here is that a certain "main player" of NWA-Missouri is such a top draw, that if hes not advertised on the card, fans don't show up. Now, here is a WACKY idea that just might work: BUILD UP NEW TALENT! SHOWCASE WHAT TALENT YOU HAVE! Did WWE close up shop when Steve Austin or The Rock were away on injury or movie deals? No, they went on with the show despite losing their top stars. How? Not only because they had the money, but because they pushed OTHER TALENT. Its real simple...at least, I think it is. I don't know enough about the goings on in the wrestling business, but for the love of Hulk, if youre going to have any credibility with your fanbase and future talent, dont rely so heavily on ONE person. Here is my honest opinion: If I were a wrestler, whether it be a lowly jobber or top-tier main eventer that is well known across the nation, and someone offered me a job with NWA-Missouri, I'd refuse after I had found out that the show is run around one single person and if the show cant run without him, then its not worth the time or day. If you want talent and you want more money, you give the fans more than what you shove down their throats and that is focusing the show around one single person and relying TOTALLY on that once person to rest the promotion on. Yea, Im a huge NWA-Missouri fan, thus why I'm voicing out my displeasure with them, because I know they can do better, they are capable of it, they just won't take that one chance.
Ok, it was long, but it was worth it. Now its late, 1:35AM to be exact as of this time, so I am calling it an end to another post. Till next time....
