I've just read the latest pulp novel from my compadre Perrry Constantine and it's a real cracker.
Elisa Hill is a Myth Hunter--a highly trained and educated adventurer who travels the globe seeking priceless artifacts. Scion of a pair of famously disgraced myth hunters, Elisa is determined to prove that her parents were right: the lost world of Lemuria does exist. She has renounced her mercenary ways and, working with a team of retired hunters and academics, Elisa sets about solving the mystery once and for all.
But the mission immediately goes awry. No sooner has Elisa recovered the key to the mystery, than her former partner, Lucas Davalos, appears toliberate it from her. Lucas is working for a sinister organization called the Order, and winning the keystone back from their clutches will not be an easy task. But the Order are not the only players in town: the deadly hunter Seth wants in on the action, and it's unclear exactly to to which side is the Kitsune shapeshifter Asami owes allegiance.
The Myth Hunter is fast-moving, action-packed look at the underbelly of a world that is not supposed to exist. Perry's prose pushes us crisply through the story with humour and vigour. Not No surprise he was nominated for Best New Writer n the 2011 Pulp Ark Awards.
THE MYTH HUNTER by Percival Constantine. 192 pages, published by Pulpwork Press 2011.
