Naruto Fanfic.

So I know now that most of my flist knows nothing or is not interested in fanfiction. So disregard this if that means you. For the rest...continue.

Author's Note: Because I was so disgusted with my writing style in 2005, I haven't done anything in the way of fanfiction for the past two years. That dry spell is now over and FINALLY I am half-way pleased with where my literary skills are now. I started watching Naruto this summer and I think I've fallen in love with the complex yet compelling character that Gaara is. With that said, I come bearing my very first Naruto fic. Please read (of course), review (positively and/or constructively) and most importantly, enjoy!

The cast-out demon would have screamed for her blood, but there was only a boy on the cusp of manhood standing before the trembling girl. That boy yearned for so much more. There was no demon living inside of him now but he was still one to be feared. The most powerful of all shinobi’s in Suna. Yet for all the mystique and wonder that surrounded him he found himself indulging now in simple yearnings and maudlin thoughts.
The young man had come to know, through lack of experience, just how reassuring the touch of another could be. Now he understood that something akin to pleasure could also be derived from watching the curve of a woman’s lips when she smiled. Or the light that reflected from her eyes when she was happy. These were all the things that Hyugaa Hinata did. Things he had observed from a distance but until recently hadn’t been allowed to enjoy.
Perhaps it was the ease in which she conducted her self while in close proximity to him…almost as if she wasn’t afraid. Perhaps it was the gentle spirit of her people living inside of her shining for all but other monsters like him to see. Whatever it was mattered little now. All that was important was the way she trembled after he kissed her.
His face didn’t reveal much, but oh how he felt…was feeling as he watched her. And through it all, the licking and biting and guarded replies, she gazed at him with something suspiciously akin to trust.
With this newest revelation it was impossible to summate how much he wanted her. How he wanted to protect her, to possess her, to….love her-whatever it was that love meant. However in the midst of his happiness, Gaara’s memories plagued him as he stared at the sleeping woman. How could he, the desert God, hope to find peace with such a person? Was there ever to be peace for someone like him?
“Gaara.”
It was less than a whisper but he heard it nonetheless. By the rapid fluttering of her lids it was apparent that she was dreaming. A good dream too if the slight smile on her lips was any measure. Another whisper of his name and then she was reaching out to touch him, an unconscious act of reassurance to be sure. This, however, was anything but reassuring to Gaara who lay rigidly beneath the arm flung over his chest.
Touching in the midst of passion was one thing, but this was altogether different. It was the first time he had ever allowed someone to sleep so close to him-caution bordering paranoia had disavowed the notion in the past. He had rightly imagined that the act of sleeping would include contact of some sort if another was sharing his bed; therefore he had ignored the sensation of his skin rubbing against the arm of the sleeping shinobi. But now…now he had been bluntly confronted by affection, unconscious or not, and Hinata was not awake to peer at him with expectant eyes. No. He was alone, as always, in the face of this new expression and was unsure of what to do.
Watching her again he was reminded that this was the same person he had not too long ago been worshipping with his mouth and other parts of his body. But for as much as he convinced himself, the feeling was entirely too strange to accept all at once and slowly he eased her arm away from his chest.
Her breathing and flow of chakra remained the same. After a few more moments that consisted of him memorizing every mark, line, and glimmer on her face, Gaara settled himself on his stomach and willed sleep, which remained ever elusive, to come.

Reviews are welcomed! Also if u think u might want to see more in the way of this paring, Gaara, or my writing in general just let me know.
