I'll have to look at a later date when I'm at Rob's. :(

When you click the link, it plays in a popup window. Somewhere in the window is a link with the word "MacResQ" in the title. If you put the little dot that indicates where in the program you are between the capitol M and lowercase a in the word "MacResQ", then you'll get to the part where I am.

News of this was all over the internet yesterday - thanks to my many fingers being in the many pots of Apple news sites. A good copy/paste will get you far. :)

Thanks, Rob jasonanonymous July 12 2005, 09:29:05 UTC
Thank Rob for sending me the Get Ready groups site - that one dude that posted something about a great place to get T-shirts cheap really saved our asses here at the 'Q. Some of the guys are in Boston for MacWorld and stopped by the SOHO store in NYC and they handed out about all the ones we had left!

BTW - I loved the cartoon. Takes me back to the day.

I'm just not sure if I can open the .m4a format on a Windows machine. For some reason it isn't even compatible with my Quiktime plugin..but I'm sure I'll be at Rob's soon enough. It should be up for a little while longer, right?

Also, I'll thank him on your behalf..the bastard.

I'm glad you liked the cartoon! Do you realize it's been several years since I did anything like that, for anybody? I don't understand why I haven't done it in that long..it was fun!

As long as you have the new QuickTime & iTunes (the iTunes download has the new QuickTime as part of it for Windows) it'll work. Get it here:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download
(I can't believe I just totally typed that URL from memory.)

I'm surprised you haven't done more cartoons as well - as I recall, you did love it so. The format was refreshing. So refreshing, that it could be incorporated into "The County Seat" as a transition page between counties depicting the road trip there (puking at a gas station in Hannibal, pissing off the McDonald's boat in Saint Loius, hootin' it up at chicks as you drive through Rolla or Warrensberg, etc), and with a great success.

And yeah, that link will be up there a while.

I heard ya on th' podcast! I heard ya on th' podcast! [/appalachia]

Heh..yes, uh, Annabel..I did "love it so." However, I must say that I like this idea of yours: sort of like the graphic novel adaptation of the coffee-table book about Missouri county courthouses of the same time.

Now THAT would mess with those sons-of-bitches' heads down at the U of MO press.

Hell yeah it would. Dude, you should totally do it as a graphic novel every 3rd page, then actual text every 2nd page, followed by a picture of a bathroom the page after that - all through the book! It would be a whole new "mixed media" format, and folks would eat it with a fork and spoon. Besides, it's very conceivable to have 3 stories going on all at once, like the cartoon depicting the shit that really happened, reflecting the "how this book was made" aspect of it, the text part would be a few anecdotes about the trip (that could contradict the cartoon in funny ways that don't jive with each other), and then, well, a picture of a public shitter.

Give it a shot! I know you'll dig on it. Besides, other than gettin' KC ready for "something", what else are you doing?

Your mom.

Actually, in all seriousness, you're right. I haven't been doing very much this summer..having given myself a lot of breathing room to quit smoking, I've succeeded with all that, but lately I've just been doing a lot of faux-philosophizing and experimenting with different media (a la drawing again, and poetry, and photography, and oil painting). Being frugal with my money, it's been possible to just kind of wander around the plains and be creative.

However, I'm not really so much a part of this GetReady! KC thing. Yes, technically I'm part of it, but of course I'm not the zealot Rob is..not by any means.

No kidding about that last part? Because maybe it might be better if you did just stay at home, at least right now. Or you could kind of stay home, except you're out with me running around Missouri working on the book. As far as your kids are concerned, well..bring 'em along, you know? They'll be raised with an innate healthy respect for county courthouses.

Whoa, get back to me on that one.

As much as I'd like to, there are two babies here (one is a handful), and it takes an awful lot of teamwork just to be able to accomplish even the simplest things, like doing laundry, etc. I'm afraid I'd be needed around here too much.

I mean, think about Mrs. Simanowitz - how would YOU feel if someone left YOU alone with two screaming twinfants? Even I get frustrated enough to have to count to 5, sometimes maybe even 10 to calm down. If this is God's way of making me learn patience, it's a cruel joke.

But..at least you're finally going to get that whole "countin to 10" thing mastered. ;)
