Last Night; I;m keepin marriage legal yall
good morning,
so last night i did my part to halp get NO votes on Prop 8 on the california ballot, those who have been under a rock, or are not from california may not no about it, Prop 8 is a propisition that if passed will ban gay marriage, again, in the state. We just recently got it passed to allow gay marriage in california. Ive seen the pro and con adverts online and various places. I know people that have recently gotten married and i didnt used to think that gay marriage was necessiarly a good thing,
what i mean that to a degree i believe that mainstream acceptance of gays could take away some of what makes us unique and different from plain ol' straight people.
but alas, i dont agree with not giving out fundamental rights to citizens and thats basically what Prop 8 does.
last night i worked the phone bank, we called registered voters and made sure they are aware of Prop 8 and what it is.
got some mixed responses. some support the ban some oppose it, but i didnt get into debates with ppl, I wanted to but i didnt, but mostly i got voicemail.......and we arent supposed to leave messages, most people fastforward or delete them
in addition to last night, it was one of the few times in san diego where i felt a comming together of gay people, yep we sometimes we segregate even withinour own ranks, i was in a room with 3 lesbians, one was partnered and was a vet with NO on 8, the other two ladies had just that past weekend gotten married. it was cool to talk and work with them, by then end tho we had all gotten on the same cycle. Lovely.
