So, one thing I've learned about myself over time is if I want to accomplish something big, the best way is to tell people about it. This isn't a fail-proof plan mind you, but it usually gives me an incentive to actually achieve what I say I will, or I'll look foolish. So when I was abroad, and even before that, I came up with a list of stories I want to write and I want to write them here for posterity if nothing else. A lot of these topics deal with theology, and I believe this is because I was exposed to a lot of the world's religions in a rather direct way recently but it is something that I think has a lot of potential for intellectual stimulation. I have actually written one of these stories, but I am putting it here as an inspiration to know that not only can I write these but there is a precedent. I also have actually started a few of these and would like to finish them because I like where they are going. That all being said, let me know which of these you like the ideas for and possibly which you don't.
The Curiosities of Frazer Nido - A reclusive janitor, Frazer Nido, dies leaving his entire estate to a man he barely knows. Not knowing what to expect, the man explores Nido's house discovering an extremely complex lifetime of hidden achievement left by Nido.
The Secular Monastery - A curious young man hears about a group of men devoted to a monastic lifestyle but with no creed or desire to grow closer to God or anything spiritual. Interested in learning more, he goes to live among them hearing each monk's story and what each monk does.
Old Crazy Man Pickett!! - This is a conception of my future self loving and doing the most possible in life with little regard for convention or social acceptabilities. A sort of charming senility and benign insanity consumes OCMP!!'s existance, using absurdity as a way to understand the world around him.
Steve the Prophet - Every night when Steve sleeps, he dreams he speaks to a different god or divine being and asks them many questions about life, the universe and everything. Eventually coming to a conclusion about religion and God.
An Odinic Tale - On a journey from Beijing, China to Agadir, Morocco, Jason learns a lot about the world and himself with a great many adventures, people, conversations and thoughts to accompany him.
The Moover Diaries - The same story as An Odinic Tale but with Moover the Cow exploring the world in a more whimsical manner.
The Denial of Paradise - A man witnesses and is disturbed by religious people doing both good and bad things simply to enter heaven, so he therefore rejects religion and pledges his soul to Satan and hell in pursuit of what he believes to be true altruism, later gaining a following.
Niddish Mythology - An invented pantheon of eight gods to explain the world's mysteries in a more modernized and entertaining way, invented and inspired from Frazer Nido.
The Creation of God - A story about the origins of God, similar to the story The Last Question by Isaac Asimov, this depicts the penultimate creation of the universe.
I realize I wrote this like a summary you might read on the back of the book, but the point of that is to keep it brief and not give away too much. I don't know if I'll write all of these, but I'd like to try, just need to improve my work ethic.
