My Kryptonite and Lifeblood

I love the sun. LOVE the sun. A sunny day can make my week. Yes, I have googled it, and the sunniest city is Yuma, Arizona. I have thought about moving there - but if I was going to move to AZ, I'd probably do Phoenix since I have family there.

The only problem with the sun is sunburn. And I got my first one of the year last Saturday. Andy and I went to a classic car show out in the burbs. The classic car show is in one of the parking lots of an antique/craft market district, where we had a booth to sell some of Cathy's crafts. Since it was 65-70, I wore a long sleeved t-shirt. I still got it pretty bad in the face and the hands - even my eyelids got burnt. I've been pretty irritable the last couple of days. I mean, I have to say that I am not as considerate a person when I don't feel well. Andy has been great, though, and has been telling me I haven't been that bad :-D.

I've always burned pretty badly when I don't watch it. 8th grade was the worst. We went out to an amusement park to celebrate our upcoming jr. high graduation. It wasn't too hot, and it was cloudy. The sunburn didn't come out until the next day, and it was bad. Two weeks later, I went to a high school graduation for an older cousin. I was still as red as a lobster, and a few people were shocked that I had been burned two weeks previous, since I was still so red.

The one thing I've learned is that it must be really hard for someone with bad permanent burns or bad facial scars. I've had a number of people stare at me. One lady stared at me during an entire elevator ride. I made eye contact for a second and looked away. Usually people stop staring at you after you make eye contact with them, but she kept staring, and the elevator ride seemed to go on for like 10 minutes. It made me really uncomfortable.

Now I'm glad that I seem to be healing a bit. My face didn't hurt today, and I'm beginning to peal. I'm going to look kinda bad for another week or so, but I'm glad it has stopped hurting and I don't feel so sunsick anymore!
