As a community activist and birth professional, I constantly recommend that women get independent childbirth education (i.e. not from the hospital where they plan on giving birth).
As a doula, I give referrals to other childbirth educators b/c I think it is a good idea to triangulate your information and get data from as many sources as possible.
But as an entrepreneur, I am hitting on an idea that has a niche market here in the DC area: Doula/CBE services in one. Allow couples to get CBE classes in their homes and have me be the doula at their birth as well. They get to schedule private lessons at their convenience and I get to have the same # of clients and increase my income.
I'm working on the curriculum and materials now and hope to be able to put it on my website as a service I offer in the next month.
Selling out? Not sure yet, but willing to risk it!
