Do you have trouble with perspective?

I find that I have extreme trouble finding which perspective I want to write in.

In general I'm a third person kind of writer, but definitely centered on one character. I don't use "I" but the narrative is very much in one character's head.

That's not a problem...until that person isn't there.

My current story very much requires telling what happens during times the narrator character isn't there. I find it difficult to switch without getting lost and want a definite "end" to one characters narrative before launching into the next.

Is it okay to switch narrative voice in the middle of a chapter? The middle of a scene? Perhaps I should just experiment.

How do you guys write perspective?
