Long time, no update

It has been a loooonnng time since I last updated my livejournal. But a couple of interesting things have happened lately that I feel the need to post about.

First - Watch "The Corporation"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Corporation is such an eye-opening movie about the impact and dangers of the world's corporations. It starts by comparing modern day corporations to the psychological traits of a Psychopath. With the way corporations legally have the same rights as a 'person', this is a great analogy.
The movie then goes on to show how the privatisation of water in some country (can't remember the name) devasted the population. The cost of water - a basic survival element - was about a 1/4 of the average persons wages. Simple access to water, such as collecting rainwater, became illegal. The population revolted and eventually won against the corporation and the state. But it is quite a scary situation.
The movie includes interviews with names such as Michael Moore, Naomi Klein, and Noam Chomsky. Anyhow, I highly recommend watching it. 5 stars :)
Second - Mac OS X or "OMG! Why did I deal with Windows crap for so long!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I succumbed to buying a shiny new ibook with Mac OS X, and I don't think I could ever go back to Windows. I love it. It is usable. Things just work. The software is great. Why did I not change over earlier?

If you had told me a few months ago that I would become a Mac user, I would have straight out laughed at you, denied it, and shaked my head at the outrageous notion. In fact, I probably did!

But like being a born-again Christian, I am now a born-again Mac user (and i can say again since I used it in Grade 1 to play Carmen Sandeigo).

The ibook is pretty cool too :) I can carry it around with me everywhere (12") and I don't have to wait 10 minutes for it to start up.

Third - Pod casting
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For those who have not heard of pod casting, it is a mixture of radio show snippets and audio blogging that you can download off the web and listen to on portable music devices, or in my case my ibook. You can subscribe (for free of course) to a choice of over 2,000 pod casts and listen to them at your convenience.
I personally listen to them in the car, using Julian's iPod, instead of listening to the crap all the commercial radio stations pump out. I still love Hughesy, Kate, and Dave in the morning's, but I really am sick of listening to the same silly dance songs over and over.
I really think the pod casts are the upcoming trend on the net and will become really huge over the next year.
A couple of great sites to get more information and links to casts are ipodder.org and podcastalley.com. Check them out :)
