yes, later today the temperature is supposed to climb up to around 50 degrees, but this morning it was raining onto frozen ground, creating the dreaded...BLACK ICE.
i left my house with plenty of time to walk the approx one mile to the train station for the 8:42 train. it turns out that it took me so long to get there, i was scuffling and shuffling, yelling to the conductor not to leave me. the next train was an HOUR later! i'll be damned if i fought my way down that icy ass road to get left!!!
omg, it was that really really thin ice that makes people fall left and right...and they did. everywhere. people fell, people skidded, people crashed into moving and parked vehicles. i saw two different women get out of their cars, give up on driving, and stand at the bus stop. one woman said, "i don't want anybody hitting my car, but better they hit my car while i'm not sitting in it! i'm out!"
it was madness.
in the middle of all that slipping and sliding, do you know some man STILL had the nerve to roll down his window and hit on me?! i said, "you really wanna do this RIGHT NOW, mister?!" he just shrugged and drove off slowly...and skidded a little.
