as far as holiday music goes, my friend joey made possibly the BEST CD ever a few years ago (it's called "jesus christ! christmas songs"). some of my personal faves on it are: ella fitzgerald & louis jordan - baby it's cold outside vince guaraldi - christmas time is here (hell, the entire Charlie Brown Christmas CD warms my being) the waitresses - christmas wrapping carla thomas - gee whiz, it's christmas peggy lee - i like a sleighride stevie wonder - one little christmas tree peace on earth/little drummer boy - david bowie & bing crosby marvin gaye - purple snowflakes cocteau twins - winter wonderland (they also do a terrific version of frosty the snowman that i wish would have made the CD cut)
there are more songs (total is like 50 or 60) on the CDs but these come to mind.
not on the CD but holiday songs that bring me a smile are: band aid - do they know it's christmas anyone who sings it - carol of the bells the temptations - silent night

david bowie and bing crosby did a SONG together?!?! the holidays bring the surreal out in everyone. marvin gaye made a holiday song?! do people get laid in the song??? are you aware that he has a song where he sings the words "get some head"? i'm serious. silent night by the temptations is so hilariously awesome. the one guy with the really high falsetto and the other guy with the really deep voice like, "MERRRRY XMASSSS, from the TEMMMMMMMMPTATIONSSSSS".
yes, 'last christmas' has been my favorite holiday song since i was a child. once i embarrassed myself at the GAP because i got so excited about it.
also, i don't consider people "not real friends" because we haven't met IRL. two of my dearest friends, hilde and myra, were LJ friends for years before we met. now we know each other IRL and in cyberspace. besides, i get to see you everytime i look at a maxwell house commercial, "WHEEEEEEW!"
omg jasmine. speaking of David Bowie, we need to watch his gay ass Little Drummer Boy video! It's right up there with the gay ass Hall and Oates Christmas song!
