An interesting look at the latest developments in artificial aids to heart failure, from balloons that sit in the aorta for a few weeks to help blood flow to implanted ventricular assist devices that take some of the load off the heart and allow it to regenerate. While the engineering was quite good I was expecting more about the blood itself and its interesting characteristics. It was only an hour's lecture, though, and probably would have taken up far too much time. I can hope for something like it next time around.
