I logged on to msn thinking I was going to write a short lj update since i had some stuff that needed posting. And the more I thought about everything I've done this week, the longer my idea of what I was going to write got.
So last week I only had to work monday and tuesday. Tuesday night was sailing, but cancelled because of thunderstorms. It really sucks because it was the last tuesday of the series, and we lost our chance to go for 2nd, and we have to settle with 3rd overall in the series, out of about 5 or 6 boats. Anyways we went up to the club for a bit because some of our crew weren't going to be sailing with us in the fall series. Then after a couple phone calls, I made my way over to Alex's house and hung out with him and erin. We watched Old School, and sat around talking, and ya.. that's about it.
Wednesday was a day that I promissed Sarina I'd do something with her, Gwen, Pasco, and Warren. So we did. We all went over to Gwen's, watched Edward Scissor Hands, went for pizza, and went for a walk to Coronation park. We sat around and read from the middle of some random book Warren had, and decided it would be awesome to stay all night. Of course that wasn't going to happen that night, but we decided we'd do it on thursday.
Thursday sailing was cancelled because the race committee boat backed out on to their moornig lines and messed up the engine. I went over to Jon's house, and Sarina was already there. We had burgers for dinner, and then Gwen and Warren showed up at 9ish. We hung around for a bit more, and at around 10 we headed out to Hixon Park, because it was pretty likely that the cops would check Coronation in the middle of the night, and Hixon park's pretty much a huge field in between some houses. Warren had to go home to get some stuff, and the rest of us went over and waited for him. And waited. And waited. After almost an hour we were almost ready to go look for him except he had a bike so it'd be pretty pointless. So we sat around talking and hoping he'd be able to find us because it was completely dark, and it was impossible to see where we were sitting from the road because there were lights there and none where we were. And it started raining. And right then we didn't have a tent yet. So Jon and Gwen went to go get it and me and Sarina stayed and waited. And then they came back. And we waited some more and then warren came. So I took his bike and went to Dominion to buy some paper cups. Becuase by the way me and Sarina each brought a bottle of wine. Gwen had a bit, and Warren started pretty slow. Me and sarina had a chugging contest and were so drunk so fast it was insane. lol we were spinning around in the middle of the field and falling over and somehow didn't throw up. And then Jon cut us off. So Warren finished it up. As it started raining pretty hard. Thank god jon was sober because we would have been so screwed trying to put up that tent. (Did I mention it was a 3 person tent and there were 5 of us) We all piled in and tryed to get some sleep. And ended up talking for several hours until we were pretty hungry. We walked to Dominion and got some food, (the rain had stopped), and then went back to the park to watch the sun rise.
At about 6:30 people started walking past and it was kinda weird so we packed up and went to Tim Hortons for breakfast. I love coffee. By the way ya I started drinking it last week at work because i was beyond tired. After two bagels and a coffee i went home and was asleep by 7:30. What a day.
The crazy thing right now is that I didn't write this friday. So as much as that seems like it should be the end and is getting so long, I can keep writing.
Friday was nothing exciting because i got home in the morning and slept until like 4. Then I sat around at home because I was still really tired and needed to get sleep because of the sailing regatta that started saturday morning.
(If you don't know how to sail the next part probably won't make any sense to you but feel free to keep reading)
The first gun was at 11, but we were out at 10 to scrub the bottom so we'd go faster. We had a piece of carped with ropes on either end so that we could put it around the bottom of the boat and scrub it. Then Ed (the helmsman) actually got into lake ontario to scrub the part we couldn't get at because of the keel. Anyways our class started fifth. And what a disappointing start. Did i mention that while we were drying out the carpet piece so that we could put it in the cabin and not soak everything, it fell overboard. And we couldn't find it. But we had such a hard time sinking it under the boat. It was weird. Well back to the race, which wasn't at all good. Because not all the boats are the same there's a handicap system so that faster boats get time added on to make it fair. Anyways we were behind some of the boats that we had to give at least 5 minutes to because of the handicaps, until the last upwind leg. For some reason we started going a knot faster. Wind stayed the same, we were just going so well. But it wasn't enough, and we finished 6th.
After a bit of a wait the second race started around 2. What a crazy start. Almost everybody was over early, but we jibed around on the line and crossed behind just about every other boat (they were all over the line and had to go back), and we ended up with the best start. And we were going as fast as we were at the end of the first race. We went around the course in the lead even though there were boats who gave us time on handicap, and we won the race! It was weird though because we couldn't figure out what slowed us down in the first race. lol i think we were dragging the bottom scrubber carpet on the keel until the last leg of the first race.
I got home, and after about 20 minutes I get a call from Sean. Him, Kelsey, and Alex came over. Go Saturday night risk :p. But the game lasted forever and Alex was the only one who got eliminated. But kelsey had almost lost, and in the end we agreed that me and Sean had tied. This was around 11:30, something like 4 hours after the got to my house lol.
Sunday morning at 11 was the third race of the regatta. Well it was supposed to be. The problem was there was no wind. So it got postponed. For about an hour. And then cancelled because there was no hope. Kinda sucks. But we finished 3rd overall and it was a nice day so it all works out :D. Except for the vicious sunburn on the back of my neck from spending so much time on the water.
And finally I've arrived at today (I've been typing for like 45 minutes so far... is anybody still reading this?)
This morning I had work 8-4, nothing special really. Then I came home for a couple hours, and around 6:30 my mom decided we should go shopping for fall clothes. A couple hours and $250 later I have a new fall wardrobe! Plus I went to music world and bought The Foo Fighers One By One album for $15 including tax!
I came home, went on msn for a bit, and then went and played some guitar. It's been so long since I've written anything. But the inspiration was there from this new CD, and I've got some music going. Nothing too solid, a bunch of parts that fit together but I'm not sure how yet. All I really know is which one's the chorus, the rest could go any way, some might even get cut out. It's weird not having band practise anymore though, because that was sort of what kept me writing. But after NEL camp we'll probably start up again becase Jonny'll be back. Which is awesome because I haven't seen him in so long, even though I wrote him a letter a while ago. Anyways so I wrote a song, and writing reminds me of LJ. Maybe that's why I haven't been posting much lately, because I haven't been writing music. Because I haven't had band practise. Because Jonny's gone. So any lack of updates can be completely blamed on him :p. Seriously, like I haven't reread this yet, and is way too long to do it now so i think I'll just post it, but at the start it was almost weird writing it. Like now it's back to how it usually is, but it took me pretty much up until this paragraph to get completely back with writing about stuff and what i'm thinking and not have to think about it... does that make any sense? Well it does to me. But I've now been typing for an hour, so i might just be crazy. Well bottom line, everything's awesome, including my new song, and if you've read this far you're either the coolest person ever, or just really bored. Doesn't matter which though, leave a comment to show you made it :p. Later
