Vondals Vandals: The Church of Sun and Shadow

The pyramid crumbled, the rod burned and Akmenos was back among us. We accompanied the ethereal spirit of Veralis to her home. After long weeks of turmoil escaping the pyramid of shadow the road was a welcome respite. Feasting made way to laughter and we all learned a little more about each other. Veralis kept mostly herself, while Akmenos spoke ( Read more... )

I too had area attack NOT dice... Surrounded I thought Action point two area effects before shifting... And if the dice had rolled better it would have really changed how the fight went, but of the six enemies I hit only two :-(

I mean it wasn't like they were even that hard to hit, though in your situation having only a Holy Symbol +1 really limits your non melee attacks, they will only be at +11 (+12 if you are bloodied) while your melee/weapon strikes should be around +14 (+15 if bloodied). Both of those should be at +1 more if you have versatile expertise ( ... )

I had thought of Shield the virtuous for the priest, but didn't use it early because I didn't realise he was a minion priest!

Interestingly it now does 11 damage :-)

Well he wasn't exactly a minion, but we were defending him. He could only take so many hits before he died, I think it was about 5 or 6 from the length of the battle. 11 damage on an enemy on a hit might have helped us kill the guys attacking him fast enough. But then so would us actually hitting, so yeah. Dan has new dice, so he might hit more now.

Akmenos has taken area effects that only target enemies, apart from 1, because it does damage and leaves targets dazed, which is pretty good. So If the tanks can go in and draw the enemies into tight bunches then I can hit them that way, soften them without harming the party, then turn my attention to hitting the lurkers and so on with ranged striker attacks. I also have enough personal powers that I can afford to get into a little bit of trouble - Caiphon's Leap to teleport if I get hit, Unspeakable Bond to dump damage down onto an ally, etc.

Between my Hexblast, which should be able to curse large swathes of the enemy in one go, together with the Shadow Warlock Armour which gives me Combat Advantage while concealed via Shadow Walk against cursed foes, I'm running at +16 for Warlock attacks and +15 for Wizard attacks.

And I've got new dice.
