Thrullzon vexes me more and more with each passing day. He seems to have no understanding of morality or even civility. I can only say that I am glad I didn't live in his time, and that I hope he will never truly get to live in ours.
Case in point. We discovered a group of malnourished humans and their minister. Thrullzon immediately claimed that they could be his slaves and the beginning of his new army. Malnourished humans do not make an army. Occasionally he would interject with something completely inappropriate while we tried to discuss civilly with the minister and discover his motives. It is no surprise that later that night we were attacked. I would say that they wanted to cave Thrullzon's brain in for his actions but honestly we knew the minister had a secret and we were pretty sure he intended to betray us.
We play-acted sleep so when we were betrayed we could quickly take the fight to our betrayers. Sadly the mindless humans could not be saved and the minister when he realized our strength only thought to save himself. He ran, but Enna and Harkill cut him down anyway. At least that menace will not escape this pyramid into the world outside. I can only pray to Kord that Thrullzon won't either.
Notes
We laughingly joke that the war cry all all enemies is "roll initiative". We have tried to talk with some in the past to no avail. Here we actually got the chance and spent a good portion of the game actually roleplaying and trying to figure out what was going on. I think a skill challenge could have been good here. 3 successful insight checks gave you a bit about his motivations but all the other skills we rolled were a bit useless. Interestingly I think 4e is really a game where the GM should call for a roll and the player shouldn't have to initiate. Traps, secret doors, hidden treasure. It would just be so much easier if the gm asked us to roll and we did. Anyway this was still a fun little diversion and the fight was interesting as well. None of the enemies were that tough by themselves, but there were upward of 12 or so minions to take care of. Both Snowfoot and Thrullzon were down pretty low as the Defenders kept getting dazed and everyone was way out of position. Still we managed to take down the minister in the end. He was pretty weak in terms of hp, but he teleported away from two critical hits. Cheeky bastard.
Achievement Unlocked
~Enna on one round using her action point managed to crack 40 to hit twice. She totaled 42 and 41 to hit on the two separate attacks. She killed one of her foes too. Neither of these were crit hits.
~Harkill is a Paladin and as must as he would like to dole out the damage he really isn't going to give pain like Enna and Vondal do. Still he did manage 37 damage on a crit, which might be our highest, but is certainly an achievement for Harkill. If only he had made that weapon +3 and not +2, then he could have cracked 40.
Total Fail
~Enna rolled trip 1's on a damage roll. Again.
You called it
~Dan had rolled 2 20's before combat started. One on a pointless skill challenge and one for initiative. On his first attack he joked that he would now roll crap. He threw a 2. And then for his monster knowledge check on that round, another 20. Trullzon deserves all the pain he can get IMO.
Point of Fashion: Textured roots
Current Obsession: I would say Dragon Age 2 but what I really want to do is play Microscopes again. It was cool.
