I drive a blue suburban, which up until now I have referred to as "the Beast", and never really consider a gender for it. Many people have "he"s or "she"s, but my 'burban is neither, and isn't very liquidy, either. Anyhow, about a week ago, I parked next to Tim's truck, which has always reminded me of a big old ram (as in male sheep). It was kind of a close park, because the next person over was apparently blind, judging by how far from between the yellow lines they were. After work that night, the two vehicles were alone in the parking lot, cuddled up next to each other under the lamplight, and it struck me how much my suburban looked like she was cuddles up against her boyfriend. I'd never thought of a gender for my suburban before, but female just feels right. :-3
In other news, there was a car at work that had painted on it, "Melba rocks were #1", just like that. No space between the "we" and "re", even, much less an apostrophe! :-3
In still other news, the assigned reading for this week is a 100 page dissertation on the lingustical evolution of native languages in Alaska. It isn't as interesting as I thought it would be. :-P
