There is a king bird that every year builds a nest in our rain gutter. I don't know why it hasn't been blown away. But for a month or three, it (or the pair sometimes) guards the nest (and hatchlings when they come) like crazy, hovering in the air and chirping indignantly at anyone who comes within 100 feet or so. Basically anytime anyone is in the yard or by the door.
