Weekend in Review: Labor Day
Friday:
Not much happened, I just ended up hanging out with Gordon. We went and saw Stardust, then we watched a few episodes of Gurren Lagan. After that, Geoff and I headed out to Belgain for some food where we hung out and talked for a bit. Some ideas were solidified for Scion, but that was about it.
Saturday:
Gord and I decided to have lunch at Fish Pockets (McGrath's Fish House) before heading over to the con. Unfortuately they decided to take nearly an hour to get our food out to us, so we were a little late for the AMV contest we were supposed to judge. Fortunately we'd already seen everything several times over so it really didn't matter too much. Our conversation over lunch was random for the most part, but there was a goodly amount devoted to discussion of what happens when internet memes float into the general populace. I do recall something about an Anonymous T-shirt that was brilliant (something about a university), but as I write this, I can't remember what it was.
Banzai's AMV contest itself went well, other than your general fanboi/girl asshattery involved in the votes. Still, I think we did a pretty good job overall with the entries and while there are some that I thought should have won or gotten special mention at least (the Shinkai video especially) even if they didn't get anything.
Afterword I ended up hanging out with Gord and Bentley where more anime was watched till about 2 or so and then everyone crashed.
Sunday:
Not much happened, I had Kyle for the evening, and ended up heading over to Kristian's for Pizza and Anime. We got through a couple episodes of Hayate, Gurren Lagan, and other stuff before I had to drop Kyle off at home. Then I headed back to watch more Lucky Star, Romeo x Juliet, and Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei. About this point, Gord crashed so myself and Bentley ended up watching Bean Bandit, then Claymore, and then switched paces and threw in Young Guns.
Overall the weekend wasn't too bad. It was mostly uneventful, some games of Civ were played, and more of Armageddon's Children was read. Otherwise it was nice, relaxing, and all too short.
