And here's the one who started this whole mess. Tom is doing something vaguely important like trying to decide if a stone is worth the trouble of putting in his pocket and forgetting about or not and he doesn't seem to notice Richhard at all.

And the notifications are screwy once more. "Oh." He smiles a bit, through his preoccupation, because caring about Tom is one of the few things that makes sense to Richard at the moment. "Hello, Tom. What are you doing?"

"Nothing. Becoming a bit bored in my idleness, I suppose."

He pokes Tom a bit. "And here you were the one constantly berating me for being boring. Shall I rescue you from your hopeless boredom, then?"

"It would be a noble gesture, sir."

[jarndyceheir]

He chuckles. "Well, we know that I do live for those. Would you like a ride? It looks a bit like rain, but I think we should be back before we get caught too hopelessly."

"All right. You did promise to teach me to swim but I suppose we can't if it may rain."

[jarndyceheir]

"Well, whichever you would prefer. If we were riding, it would be easier to get out of the rain, but I did say I would, so I will leave it to you."

He thought for a moment. "If we were swimming it wouldn't matter since we would be wet regardless."

[jarndyceheir]

"A fine point, I suppose. Swimming it is, then. It's certainly warm enough now."

"Good." Tom smiled. He was still apprehensive about the whole thing but resolved to try it.

Richard started walking towards the lake. "So, did anything occasion this sudden bout of idleness?"

"Not really. But what were you doing?"

[jarndyceheir]

"Nothing in particular. Just taking a walk." He smiled a bit, somewhat absently. "I ran into Mrs. Strange, briefly."

"Oh! How is she?"

Typist: I am still of the opinion that Richard should meet the gentleman at some point.
