Look! Social! (open, needless to say)

After being exhorted by Tom and the embarrassment of having no one able to identify his corpse, Richard decided to give his friend's advice an honest try.

So here he was, on the front porch of the Mansion. He'd managed to find a comic book laying about, and was rather fascinated, but really, he's there for bothering.

"Do I call upon you at a better time than previously, Mr Carstone?"

He smiles and stands. "Much better, Mrs Strange. Forgive me for being so needlessly brusque with you formerly. How have you kept yourself?"

[colored_gowns]

"I beg you, think nothing of it. I have kept myself wonderfully well, sir, I thank you." And indeed, a small, unnamable change in her might be noticed-- something brighter, or lighter, almost. "And you, sir?"

[jarndyceheir]

"Well, given the state in which you last saw me, I can safely say I have much improved. But you look marvelously well, madam, if you will permit me to observe it."

[colored_gowns]

She laughs. "I will, sir, and I will thank you. May I inquire after your reading choice?" She gestures towards the book.

[jarndyceheir]

"Ah." He hesitated for just a moment, unsure how appropriate it would be for a lady, then offered it to her. "It is quite bizarre, I confess. I found it in the kitchen and can only follow it in parts."

[colored_gowns]

"Why, what is it?"

[jarndyceheir]

"I am not sure. A pamphlet of some sort. Look for yourself, as I'm afraid I can offer no clearer explanation."

[colored_gowns]

She does so, and after only a few moments starts to laugh, rather incredulously. "How odd!"

[jarndyceheir]

"Is it not? I do not understand half of what is written, but do believe the images and words are meant to go together."

[colored_gowns]

"Yes, I suppose that would make sense. Why, it is rather like those political drawings in the papers. Those certainly tend to make as little sense as this."

[jarndyceheir]

"Ah, true. Perhaps it is an extended political metaphor."

[colored_gowns]

She laughs and flips through the pages. "Very extended."

[jarndyceheir]

"I do hope it is not reflective of how politicians dress in the future."

[colored_gowns]

"Some of them could scare be more ridiculous for it."

[jarndyceheir]

He laughs; it is a nice laugh, but more muted than it used to be. "I am afraid, dear lady, that not much has changed in that regard."
