I thought I'd post some happy stuff instead of sad stuff.
Here were a couple of funny moments that we shared today.
As we were leaving work I told my wife how hot the steering wheel was. Then I, very innocently by the way, mentioned that a co-worker’s (named Joel) steering wheel for some reason does not get as hot as ours and I started to add that I thought it was because they are using new materials that absorb and/or reflect heat in a more efficient manner when she started to laugh really hard. I didn’t see what was so funny at first. She started to say that it sounds really sick and asked why was I touching Joel’s steering wheel and I said with a sheepish face, “He made me.” We just busted out laughing. So she proceeds in calling my other buddy from work named Tony. When asking to be transferred by the phone operator, she is laughing so hard that she accidentally says Bony instead of Tony and we just start to crack up again. It was hilarious!
When we got home, my daughter had a big surprise and she rushed us to the “extra room” we had recently acquired. She says, “Dad I have a big surprise for you! Are you ready, Surprise!” And she opened the door to the closet. She had basically moved all of her stuff in the closet that she shared with her sister to this room. My wife and I had just talked about moving her stuff over to the extra room, but I opposed it because when you have extra room, in my daughter’s case, extra closet space, you end up “growing” into it. I already felt that she had plenty of clothes; to me the problem of space could be solved by getting rid of clothes rather than moving her stuff to a larger closet because eventually she will grow into that closet by getting more stuff to fill the closet space (Hope that makes sense). Grandma P. was just laughing because basically my daughter made the choice to move her stuff and Grandma P. just let her. So I thought, “well, I just might as well let her leave her stuff there for a while since she actually did it all by herself.” So then Grandma P. starts to laugh and asks my daughter to tell us her plans, And I’m thinking, “Oh boy, she wants to move into this room.” But she says that when my brother moves out, his room is going to be her room and the room that she currently shares with her sister will be her sister’s room. I thanked her for informing us of her plans and just laughed. My wife tells her that we already have plans for that room. That room is going to be our study room. And my daughter replies, “Well anyways, that is going to be my room.” Everyone just laughed because she thinks she is calling the shots. Later on, I told her that I have a task for her; to go through her toys and sort out the ones she doesn’t play with anymore. She replied, “Dad, next year when I’m like Julie’s age (who is 24) can you give me a task to eat McDonald’s and work there?” What a character. Sometimes I wish I could somehow video moments like that right out of my brain. Precious moments.
