I had sushi for the first time yesterday. Yeah, I had to go into work. Weird, because I have today off. There weren't too many of us in the office, so us women got some girl-bonding time. Well, there was one guy, lonely in his cubicle, probably chuckling to himself when we girls wandered on to topics like hair removal. LOL.
I spent some more time on my Latin that afternoon. It's so fun. I also picked up a copy of "Oxford Latin Course Part I". I like it because it has long passages to read, lots of pictures, and good history info. I wish, though, that I had the teacher copy, because I'd like to be able to correct my answers. I don't think the book was meant for the self-study types like myself. See, I can't cheat, even when I do have the answer key, because I'd only be cheating myself. You only get out of it what you put into it. Ab igne igneum. From fire, fire.
So, how do I usually study? It's a combination of reading the rules, keeping the vocab in mind, and translating to and from Latin. Fill in the blank and mutiple choice are just tools for the teacher, making it easier for one to grade a student's work, but they do the student a disservice. It makes it too easy for them not to learn when used in homework, though still get decent grades. Especially when it comes to language, I feel those devices should be left to exams only.
