I flew into Heathrow from Dublin the other weekend -it was an early evening flight so it was dark as we came over London. I was fascinated by the lights over southern England as we approached and then went over London. It was a little galaxy of orange light - clusters here and there connected by pale stems spreading out into the distance. It was quite beautiful.
Once over London I was soon spotting areas I knew, from Canary Wharf to the West End and the London Eye. I even managed to locate (I think) my old flat in Fulham based on spotting Stamford Bridge and following the roads.
In the end though, all I could think about was - Wow thats a lot of electricity being burnt out there and I don't even realise it.
I think my enviromental guilt is deepening.
I'd better go pick up my bike.
Infinity MPG - FTW.
