1 week down... many to go...

So I have had my first week of school. It seemed to take forever to go by. I know I won't be able to say that about the following weeks. I am sure they will fly by faster than I want them to. Especially with the deadlines coming down the pike for various things I need to get done.

I am already getting a bit behind in my reading. I was never a fast reader in the first place, and it compounds alot when it is something I have really no interest in what so ever. I have to be honest, I don't give a rats ass about accounting and economics. I am a computer programmer, and these things mean nothing to me. I may well write software for those types of people some day, but I don't really care to understand them at this point. I may see it in a different light later I am sure, but right now... bleh... I hates it.

On the plus side, I seemed to have learned something useful in accounting as I got some of the problems right when I had to do them on the spot. This was somewhat encouraging, but I know I still have a great deal of reading to do. I have decided I like the "break-out class" TA. She is very friendly, and tries her best. It is a bit obvious this is her first time doing a teaching kinda thing. Everyone has to start somewhere at least, and I can see she is trying hard. I will certainly give her kudos for that.

Sarah has been helping me as well. She has taken business classes previously, and has a associates degree in business. She helped me to figure out some parts of a balance sheet, and I imagine she will be able to help me out with more of the same subject. It is mainly trying to sort out all the parts of accounting that gives me trouble. What goes in what category, and why. Once I have sorted all the parts... the math is basic and easy. Then there comes the part I will deal later... what do all these damn numbers mean anyways, and how will I use them to rule the world!!!

She could probably help me with economics as well, but I am not yet sure what I am supposed to be learning in that class in the first place. So far it has taught me "Yes... we do indeed have an economy".

o.0; I already freaking know that! What am I here to learn? This may be a problematic class only because I realize I have a instructor who is a PhD in philosophy who is teaching the class on economics. I am a bit concerned about this, and wonder why the business college elected to have a person do something so far out of his trained norm. Yet on the other hand it is just an intro to business type class. So perhaps that is the reason why. Yet the minor discussion about Plato within the first couple of classes has me concerned a bit.

I should perhaps take this all still with a grain of salt. It is the first couple weeks of class, and things are still settling down as far as class rosters are going. Thus the instructors really don't want to dig in too far till they are sure the class they have is firmly going to be there. It is indeed a pain to reteach the same thing again because of newbies who drop in a couple weeks later.

Then again I am just over all concerned and minorly stressed about school anyways. I need to succeed so bad, and anything that seems to go against that worries me. Just afraid I won't make it. I am so glad I have so many friends willing to help me keep at it. (even if they are only a cheering section)

So... well...
Things to do:
- Accounting homework online that is due on wednesday 8/29. Must be finished evening of the prior tuesday.
- Need to type out the minor paper for Asian class. Stuff about me, and things like that. Just can't forget...
- More reading! I am hoping to catch up and get to the end of the second chapter in all the books I have. Business books are a drag though...

That seems to be pretty much it for now. I hope everyone is having a good one, and I will see ya abouts where I can!
