Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true...

CVS opened up in Kimbark Plaza recently, and this has changed our lives. The change can be summed up in one word: Uno.

CVS has also led to the first murder in Hyde Park in the new year. Apparently, a man from the east of Dorchester gang crossed over into the west of Dorchester gang's territory to check out the new store, and was shot twice and killed. Literally one short city block north of me. I, or someone I know, could have very easily been there at the time, considering we do all of our shopping at Kimbark Plaza.

Everyone I know is ready to move out of the city, or at least up to the relatively safe North Side. We pass our last few months with laughter and hammy photos to avoid thinking about real things.

We all agreed to not tell our parents about the murder. My mom would just be scared. She couldn't believe that my apartment was broken into right before I moved into it, and was not at all calmed by the fact that they'd put bars on the windows immediately afterwards. And my dad would just say "I told you so" and once again remind me that I should have gone to the U of I.

Anyway, this week, wine night at our apartment on Thursday, and then Jimmy's on Friday to celebrate Miss Lyman's 22nd.
