Summary: When Jared booked a flight for his pilgrimage, he didn't realize the pilot was an alien.
The meal bell rang an hour out of port, and Jared almost lost his nerve. His rumbling stomach could wait. The deceleration thrusters had just come on, and soon they'd be distant enough and close enough to stationary to engage the swimdrive. When the captain went to the cockpit, Jared could creep into the galley to search for leftovers and be out again before they ran into each other. And maintain this routine for two and a half weeks. And come out the other side with his self-respect intact. Somehow. Yeah.
