TTR Update (Digital Label, Mayhew the Traitor press, Jared Grabb EP, Tina Sparkle 7", and more!)
Ah, yes! What's up in the land of Thinker Thought Records, you say?
First and foremost, Thinker Thought Records' Digital Label launches on AUGUST 26th. The launch includes digital releases from Scouts Honor, Empty Orchestra, Hinter, DS Yancey, and Har Meggido! You all should be familiar with the work of the first three bands through our previous releases with them. A quick description of the other two acts would be that DS Yancey is a fabulously talented, truck-driving singer-songwriter from Phoenix, AZ (think Ted Leo and Billy Bragg) and Har Meggido are a truly inspiring instrumental rock band from Little Rock, AR and Chicago (think Don Caballero, The Fucking Champs, and Russian Circles - contains members of Scouts Honor and Relapse Records' RWAKE). April's release of THI 016 - Mayhew The Traitor "Deathwish" has been very well-received. They have received postive press from Big Takeover, ThePlaylist.Net, WIUS 88.3 FM, Western Courier, and Sputnik Music. They will also have a featured review in the next issue of Skyscraper Magazine. Jared Grabb (of Scouts Honor) is back on the scene in full acoustic glory with the release of a FREE downloadable EP at www. myspace.com/jaredgrabbsolo. The EP is cleverly titled "Crude Songs" and contains 4 demos of protest songs recorded back in 2003. In this crazy, messed-up world, the songs are still a pretty solid comment on the state of our nation. Mr. Grabb plans to record his 2nd full length album this winter (following 2002's "On The Inside").
Tina Sparkle just finished up recording a new 7" titled "Ladybugs And Firecrackers" that we should have ready for you all in the early Fall. The band is streaming a couple of the new songs at www. myspace. com/tinafuckinsparkle. They will be on tour throughout the Midwest in August.
Speaking of tour, Empty Orchestra is currently touring their butts off with dates from coast to coast performing alongside such great bands as Lucero, Fiya, Anathallo, and A Static Lullaby. Show dates for all TTR artists are listed below.
