literary treasures

The Golden Compass, the first book in the His Dark Materials trilogy, was so addicting and brilliant I couldn't put it down. I guess it is in the same genre of Harry Potter, children's/young adult fantasy/adventure. Having never read any of the Harry Potter series, I can't really compare the two, but I can definitely attest that TGC has so much symbolism and metahphor to over analyze along with a really solid, well written story that every book nerd needs to read it.

So far, the Subtle Knife has been checked out at every library I've been to here, but I am dying to find out what happens. Also, there is a movie of TGC coming out at the end of the year that looks like it might actually be good. Look for it.

Ugh, on a shittier note, tomorrow is the first day I take phone calls, and I really have no idea what I'm doing. I'm not looking forward to it.
