"Where is he?"
.
Let me dream aside of someone
bent to laugh, for freedom bred;
One who lets his heart be mended
by the half my soul would give.
.
May we walk in fields of poppies--
frailer petals yet I've seen;
Skins so like my poor heart, tender;
Weaker than a sinner's dream.
.
Let his eyes be game to wander
over foreign lands and seas,
for I turn the tides more quickly
than the moon when passing wanes.
.
So it is akin my needs,
barren till their prize be gleaned.
Where is he that justly roams?
Who is he my sad heart loves?

"A doll's appeal"
.
My love's light manner cannot fall,
Nor be brought down by abstinence;
Keep from me what my heart wants
I'll more desire what I miss.
Through lust fermented passion peaks,
For naught burns more than languishing.
.
Therefore, youth, think not that distance
Can suppress or kill my heart.
Nearer is your face to mine
The further press you us apart.
I'll succeed where e'er I follow
As you'll cede with each tomorrow.
.
Fain you love the lasses there,
Each who'd smile and wink her means--
Prettied eyes and perfumed hair,
But bitter be their wanton sweets!
Vapid maids with spirits green,
Not one you'll find can better me!
.
Love, you fear the gifts I bring.
Your trepid heart makes light my sport.
Fearful of my offerings
You slight and keep relations coy.
I'll not be swayed from this my course,
You'll be brought down by kiss or force.
Boy, let go your obstinance,
Beauty wanes that is not spent.
