There is no such thing as victory without a price. That rule worked even here, in Jardin du Ciel, where duelists were expected to not kill or even particularly harm each other during combat. Here, consequences were ones of emotion, affinity, friendship... And sometimes ones of money, as the ruined uniform in Serenade's lap revealed to him.
He sat down on a bench somewhere in campus grounds, where a street lantern was shining bright enough to keep his vision clear and there wasn't enough noise to distract his hand from being steady. Surely, he couldn't go to the tailor with what looked like obvious knife marks on his uniform. He didn't have the cash to buy a new uniform, either. His only choice was to repair the entire thing himself.
His eyebrows furrowed tensely as he raised the broken cloth and pierced it through with a needle, patching together a part on the front with thread of the same color as the uniform. His lips clenched a piece of thread with a little more strength as he pulled and then pierced the cloth again, placing the first seam where it belonged.
It was amazing how easy this was. With how easy it was to repair his clothes right now, it was obvious that he repaired them in the past. What kind of life did he lead, to develop that kind of skill? Surely, it wasn't one of a seamstress.
Ah, whatever. It was fun, anyway.
