?Expressing the Many Facets of Feminism
?Fem is the first in a possible series of shows designed to address the social issues of today’s society. Krista Grell developed the idea as a final project for her Introduction to Women and Gender Studies class at Georgia Southern University and enlisted the help of Jennifer Afroozi, local artist and teacher at Southeast Bulloch High School. Fem will feature works that capture the essense of the feminine or address a feminist issue.
The show will be on display at the Averitt Arts Center from November 29 through December 11 in the 3rd floor multi-purpose room. The show will be open to the public. On Friday, December 4, there will be a reception in the evening, the time will be announced.
Exhibition is open to all local artists, male and female. Deadline for submission is Friday, November 19th. We will contact those selected by Novemer 23. To submit works for this show please follow these simple directions.
1. Works should be feminine in nature or address a feminist issue.
2. Entries are limited to two pieces per artist. If you would like to submit more we will be happy to choose for you.
3. Works can be in any medium. All two demensional works must be framed and ready for hanging.
4. Please e-mail digital images to kristagrell@gmail.com and jenny@jenniferafroozi.com. If you have slides or photos you can drop them off or mail them to Jennifer Afroozi at SEB High, 9184 Brooklet-Denmark Highway, Brooklet, GA 30415.
5. Be sure to include size of piece, medium and title.
6. There is a entry fee of $5 for students (high school and college) and $10 for professionals. This will be due after your piece is selected for exhibition.
