OMFG NOT ANOTHER ONE

 SO

I SAW STAR TREK LAST NIGHT.

I do not know much about original Trek or even TNG.  My parents would watch it while I played with my army dolls on the floor of the living room.  I have seen some episodes and a few movies, (KHAAAAAAAANNNN) and I kind of recognize the characters but I was never really into it.

WITH THAT BEING SAID, This movie was the BEST MOVIE OF 09.  Seriously, anyone can go see it.  I think diehard Trekkies will like it (lot's of in jokes if you watched the show) and those that are unfamiliar with the concept.  The writing's pretty good (ALTHOUGH WAS THE BIRTH SCENE AT THE BEGINNING REALLY NECESSARY JJ??? REALLY?), even though it's JJ writing it (i.e. Queen of the soap operas), and the special effects are spectacular. (IDK, I LIKE THE LENS FLARE), and the actual science of it is presented as such that you don't even really care at first if that could ever possibly work because it's SO FREAKING COOL.  The movie also is savvy enough to not take itself too seriously and a lot of hilarity ensues because of it.  But the characters, OMG THE CHARACTERS.

Okay, whoever casted this thing rocks.  I had my doubts about Sylar-Spock and Captain James T. Kirk, but they turned out to be the best in the whole movie.  Seriously, I did not go in the theatre expecting to like Spock at all (Zachary Quinto fangirls = ewww) but DAMN!  He just had this demeanor and way of carriying himself that made me cheer when Uhura started bossing him around and making out with him (OMFG NEW OTP).  Also, he looked really good in that uniform.  Like, REALLY GOOD.  (I think it might have been those pants and boots.)  But yeah, Kirk was entertaining, especially in his obnoxious, smartass kind of way that usually turns me off to characters like that but he was good enough to pull it off. (STARDATE WHATEVER. OH KIRK, ILU SO MU MUCH)  And John Cho was just a BAMF. (LOL FENCING) and the movie needed more of him.  Uhara was the best though.  Strong, female lead, hot and badass enough to not let herslef be shunted off to the sidelines while the boys play out the story. YEEEEESSSSS.  (Even though I feel they did kinda cut her out of the end there.)  McCoy said his famous lines and just THIS MOVIE = SO MUCH LOVE!!!!!

I could go on but I would just be rambling even more.  What did surprise me, (BESIDES HOW MUCH I LOVED THIS MOVIE) was the fact that the ship was Spock/Uhura and not Kirk/Uhura, which is what I totally believed it would be. (Although I have a feeling that Uhura's romantic attatchment to Spock was mainly so that the relationship between Spock and Kirk would not be able to be called "OMG IT IS TEH GAY!!!")  BUT OMG THEY WERE SO CUTE AND AWESOME AND I NEED A SEEEEEQEEEAAAALLLL!!)

Yes.  Go see it.  It's worth the money.

And now, I must go off in search of Spock/Uhura icons.

*spazz*, star trek!, made of win, movies, spock/uhura, did not expect it, otp of otp
