My brother was on the way to play a show at rock'n'roll pizza tonight, a friend from Eugene was driving him. I guess they swerved a bit left, over corrected right, spun across the highway and slammed into the retaining wall on the right.
We heard at 8:30 or so, and left immediatly.
The car ride was just weird. We had heard that he was alright, but nothing official. It is long waits when the mind is at it's most active, and we all were worried.
As it turns out, he is basically alright. A few bumps and scratches, but his real problem is the back pain. He was x-rayed and he is fine, but it is sad watching him hobble around. Though he makes it around on his own he is in pretty bad pain.
I'm so relieved that nothing worse happened to him, quite frankly I don't know what it would be like him gone.
When my mom told me she just called me downstairs and said "Nick was in an accident, he is at the Salem hospital".
Such a feeling of dispare swept over me. I had no idea what condition he was in. It was terrible.
I'm very sorry for anyone else that has had to deal with this, or worse.
Lisa, the friend who was driving him, got off a bit worse. Her leg was broken and her ankle dislocated, as well as shrapnel from the dashboard being stuck in her leg. Or something to that effect. She will need surgery, but should be fine.
I love you Nicholas, I'm sorry I don't communicate that to you more.
