Since I've been whinging ...
.,.. about the need to revitalise LJ on Tumblr, I figured I better actually post on LiveJournal occasionally. I don't have a meme to play with - maybe for the New Year, so here's what I've been up to/am planning to be up to writing wise over the silly season.
* I am SO CLOSE to finishing Drift Away, my Veronica Mars/Revolution crossover. I have been saying this for months, of course, but every time I sit down to write, these ridiculously close-mouthed, emotionally repressed characters (in canon) just want to talk and talk and talk (and screw each other silly, of course.) But I have just one, maybe two scenes left to write, and it will be done, because I've written both the end of the chapter and the last chapter, so it's SO CLOSE. Of course, it's the first in a series and has the odd loose end tied in to facilitate that, but hey. I am nothing if not masochistic. Am I'm hoping the next story in the series will be, say, 5000 words rather than 25,000 28,000 words?
* I am halfway through the Revolution story I am writing for my nbc_revolution Christmas exchange recipient. Technically it's due tomorrow but I am in Australian and YES I PLAN TO SQUEEZE AN EXTRA DAYS WRITING OUT OF THAT TIMEZONE DIFFERENCE.
* I have promised several people reading my stories of late an update to my X-men/NCIS story Infinite Multiplicity. Which I will write. And must confess was a Christmas wishlist gift to vikingprincess two years ago. But WILL be updated (if not finished) before the New Year :D
* I've just signed up for 12 days of ficmas once more. It's a really fun little fic community, where you try and generate as many (or as few) fanworks as you like over a 12 day period, running from 25 December itself. I like to use it to dip my toe into new fandoms and fandoms I've been neglecting. Like Veronica Mars and the X-men. My first story will probably be a prologue/teaser for the Days of Future Past story that's been percolating since I saw that. (Note to self: get children or husband to buy me DOFP on Blu-Ray for Xmas. And The Winter Soldier. Then all my fandom appetites will be fed.)
* I'm in the process of working up a Revolution fandom manifesto for het-reccers, which isn't as easy as it sounds. The Charloe has lots of stories to rec, but so many of the others I adore aren't very het. Eric Kripke and his need to build two central male characters into the most riveting relationship of a show makes the Miloe hard to see past!
* And I've signed up to be the special reccer for Feb, so LOTS OF FIC RECS FROM ALL FANDOMS PLEASE! And in what I'm sure won't be unrelated news for February - hello, Porn Battle is almost upon us. After we get through the Christmas. And the hot, melted-brain time. (aka January. For those of us Down Under.)
