You Know Just The Same

There once was a child who knew the secret to life. He woke up every morning and lived like there was no tommorow. He never took one meal for granted, and he always ate every last little bit. He played, he laughed, he loved, and he was loved. He gave as much as he took, and always smiled when it was needed.

The child was so young, so innocent. He seemed to almost be an angel, close to infallible to his parents. Everything he did was to live his life a little fuller. He cried of course, like all kids, but he knew why when he did so. He knew the secret to life...

The child grew....

And grew...

and grew...

He is older now. He still has that secret locked away in his head. He wakes up every morning and begins to get ready for work. He fixes his coffee, fixes his tie, fixes his smile, and goes. He is a winner. He takes more for granted now, leaving some on his plate just because he can. He plays the stock market, he laughs at those he works with, but seldom with them. He loves his money, but sadly it doesnt love him back. He takes more than he gives, and he smiles a little too much now.

He is getting so much older now. He still knows the secret to life, just like everyone else does. He felt it the way all children feel it. He forgot it the same way also. The greed for a dollar, for another bite of food, for another smile, laugh, or joy. The secret to life is locked inside him, and he still holds the key. Too bad he can't get to it...its hidden under his wallet. So Smile.
