I made a lot of promises to update and broke them, but here's two in one day.
The first part is mostly school, you should scroll down to the fun spring break recap.
Finals week was quite stressful but I managed my time quite well and was still able to make it to San Diego the weekend before. We celebrated Nazer's birthday and farewell at Panda Buffet in RB. I vote Panda the best buffet in our area, better than East, Crazy and even Great Moon in PB.
I had quite a stunning Winter '07, my best quarter so far; I pulled out a 3.9. I'm proud of myself. It actually does help to go to class every day, to not miss anything, and to make up for anything that you might have.
Most importantly, I got an A in Informatics 42, which nearly secures my major declaration. There's a few more hurdles I have to clear though, namely, Info 43, a software engineering class, and the junior standing I've achieved by accumulating so many credits, I hope they don't hold me back because of that. Apparently, that's a cause for concern.
For the first time, I won't be taking any classes intended stricty for breadth, or GEs. I'm donezo with all of those besides math. All of my classes this quarter are ICS (info and computer science) in some shape or form and I'm feeling the heat. This will probably be my toughest quarter thus far but I think I can hang.
I thought it'd be hard to get up for 9:30/10:00 classes last quarter, but I somehow showed up everyday so I think I can handle 8:00 this quarter even though that's my hardest class too. I have a 10:00 after that, so I'm actually just on a crappily timed break right now. Be glad I used it to update while I'm on the top floor of this ICS lab.
**END OF SCHOOL STUFF**
Spring break was awesome. I was a little disapointed heading into it because I didn't have a cool trip like SF last year to look forward to, but everything else more than made up for that. I can't even remember anything else from last year's spring break besides that trip, but I'll remember almost every day of this one.
I came home on Thursday and told my parents I was comin home on Friday so I could sleep at the condo. Had some beers and passed out from staying up all night for a final. Friday was John's bday party, I pretty much just showed up randomly but I'm glad I did, it was worth it.
Next came Saturday.
I've tried many times to make it to the exclusive century club, and on Saturday I finally made it. 105+ shots of beer in 105 minutes. That's about 13 beers in a little over an hour and a half. I passed out after the last shot. And then I woke up 4 times to throw up. Owned. I've only been so sick that I never wanted to drink again twice in my life, and this was the second time. I never want to play this game again. And I still don't know why my Kuya Virgil sat in that tiny ass beach chair during the whole game.
Sunday and Monday I just chilled, eagerly anticipating Brent Bash on Tuesday. This year I was hosting, so I took the liberty to invite a buncha my SD friends. My place was fuckin PACKED.
Of course, I'm eating here, and Derek looks like he's about to kill me with chopsticks.
I don't even know who half these people are.
It's still strange to me to see the mix of Irvine and SD people. There must have been at least 40 people in my tiny apt. We didn't get one complaint though, my neighbors have been pretty chill all year. It was good times, I hope it lived up to the hype of Brent Bash for everyone. And I hope it's anywhere else besides Harvard Court next year.
I just recovered all day Wednesday, pretty much everyone did. Woke up at 5 and played poker at David's, the first game recorded by the new stats webpage I started,
SDA Poker Page. And then I ate Mexican food with Adonis, Jordan and Tuan at Super Sergios. I wholeheartedly approve.
Thursday, we celebrated Nelson's bday at Barona Buffet, one of the greatest buffets known to man. And then I came up $40 playing Wheel of Fortune slots, I love that machine. I wish I had pictures of everything I ate so I could share, but then this entry would look like a huge imagestation album.
Friday was pretty much our end of spring break bash at Ray's. I always like goin there, it's a nice change of pace from the condo. For some reason, we decided to get a keg. I don't know why though, because that shit owned us. We weren't even close to finishing it that night. It was real good times though, an awesome way to end break. We also got to celebrate Aaron's acceptance to UCSB, his lifelong dream school, an outstanding combination of academia and white girls. A lot of you have seen this before, but this was the highlight of the night. I guess I have a lot of pent up dancing energy since I don't go clubbin that much.
Saturday was Ava's birthday party in the afternoon. I had a killer headache while I was there but it got better. Food was awesome. That night we watched TMNT at Kuya Pogi's place; it brought back a lot of good memories for me, Kuya Justin, and Kuya Sean. Afterwards, I headed to the condo to try and finish the keg with everyone else to no avail. Ate mexican food with mira mesa, and called it a night.
Sunday was Wrestlemania back at the Nocon residence. I guess it was a pretty nostalgic weekend. It was a good way to close spring break.
This is a loooong entry, and I'm about to make it even longer.
Happy Birthday to Jeff Lingad, Arthur Uyesugi, and Nazer Lagrimas.
Holy. Shit. Man, those were the DAYS! haha. I don't know where Jeff was. the bathroom? But man, look how fuckin skinny I am, and Nazer still spiked his hair back then. I will always think of us 4 as a group, I really leaned on these guys in the early days of band.
I don't get to see Arthur as much, and he freakin goes to the same school as me. I know he's busy with his bros and all that though, and I'm real happy for him, I'm glad to see him livin large and to be hearin crazy club stories about him.
Jeff Lingad is pretty much the reason I picked Peach as my main in Smash. He has been an inspiration to me in games and food...come to think of it, those are my two biggest weaknesses and downfalls...but anyways, I love this guy for his hilarity, and his freestyle abilities, I wish we got to celebrate dude!
And Nazer, damn man, you're one of my heroes dude. If Jeff has inspired me in games and food, then Nazer has inspired me in life. Yeah, that is so corny, but damn, I'll leave it at that. To see Nazer doing what he's doing right now is a lesson in hard work, and most importantly you see what it's like for someone to really have a passion for something, and you know that this person was born to do this. From him, I've learned that if you really want something in life, you give it 100% and nothing less.
Finally, Happy Birthday Nelson Vuong. Since he wasn't in band with us, he gets his own pic I guess.
Nelson takes the gayest pictures I've ever seen. We've come a long way me and him, since about sophomore year. Nelson's got jokes! He has made it fun for me to hate the people he hates, yes, the ones he hates, not the ones I hate. He has bested me in Madden, one of my passions in life, for the past few years, that son of a bitch. I will always count on him to have my back, and to almost always act like a man, and be proud of that, and make me proud of it. That means our priorities in no particular order are BBQ, lifting weights, football, and more importantly FANTASY FOOTBALL. Even though he moved, DARKWOOD TRIANGLE FOR LIFE!
Longest entry ever in life. I started this back at 9 AM during my break and now it's 630 PM. I took a lot of breaks in between. I'm surprised you made it this far, or good for you for skipping some. Thank you for reading, see you next time.
