Just finished watching the first episode of
Bambino.
It made me hungry. It made me cringe in embarrassment and pity for Momo. Baccanale's kitchen is a literal pressure cooker. And I've never seen a dorama with so many mean characters and that's just the first episode! I guess I've been living in a fairy tale world.
Of all the European languages, I haven't been fascinated with Italian as much as Spanish or even French. But I do love Italian food! And watching this dorama in the middle of the night made me hungry.
The first scene alone made me miss Tokyo. It's Roppongi! And Matsujun as Ban emerging from the subway and looking up at Roppongi Hills!
There are familiar faces like Sato Ryuta who plays the kitchen bully Katori; he was the team mascot in Pride so it's a change this time for him to play the meanie. I so hated him!
But I think I'm going to like Kitamura Kazuki as Yona, the naughty capo cameriere or chief waiter (maitre d') and Uchida Yuki who plays "princess" Miyuki, the manager and daughter of the Baccanale owner. And Matsujun, as always, is good though I saw some traces of Domyoji acting here (one scene from Hana Yori Dango came to mind, when he was holding a pepper mill and acting all flustered).
They say a lot of "bene" (okay) and I was straining my ear to hear because it seemed they were just saying BEN instead of ben-EH. Well, obviously, I'm not the only one who needs Italian lessons.
And I also hope that they'd improve the musical scoring. Music does make scenes come out more interesting and since this is semi-Italian, then they might as well play an aria to spice things up. Kidding.
